Children's Building Renovations Completed
Updated space provides room to learn, heal, and play

On April 4, WEAVE completed renovations of the Children's Building at the Safehouse campus.  The "new" space houses the onsite charter school, play area, and counseling space.  To learn more about the project and see pictures, visit WEAVE's Blog.

Coaching Boys into Men in the News!

WEAVE participated in a Centers for Disease Control and Research funded evaluation of the effectiveness of the Coaching Boys Into Men program under the direction of Dr. Elizabeth Miller. The promising results of the program, validated through this research, were recently published in the Journal of Adolescent Health. The results have received widespread media attention over the past week including the following articles.

Today, WEAVE's Executive Director, accepted the FBI Director's Community Leadership Award in Washington D.C. The national award is presented to a select few individuals and organizations who are nominated by FBI Field Offices from throughout the nation each year.

Sexual Assault Victim Being Held in Juvenile Hall

A young sexual assault victim is being held in juvenile hall to ensure her appearance at the rapist's hearing. WEAVE has heard from many dismayed and outraged members of our community and we share your concerns about the rights of the victim in this situation and fears that it will discourage other victims from coming forward in the future.

Rest assured that WEAVE has shared these concerns with the District Attorney's Office and is in communication about the matter.

Our mission and purpose has always been and continues to be serving as a voice for needs of the victim.

New Child Safety Seat Laws

California's New Child Passenger Safety Law effective January 1, 2012:

California Law will require children to ride in the back seat in a properly secured child passenger safety restraint until they are at least 8 years old or until they are at least 4 feet 9 inches in height.

Properly buckling your children in before every trip in your car is critical.
